KAREN'S KORNER
Another new year-where does the time go? My wish for you is that the year 2001 brings you
great health and lots of happiness. I hope you enjoy the following poem as much as I do.
And, "take time to smell the roses"!
Each Day Is Filled With Miracles
Each day is filled with miracles
that many do not see
while others take for granted
the buds upon the tree.
Some never see the sunrise
or gaze upon the stars
nor do they search the winter skies
for Jupiter and Mars.
Some haven't seen the golden leaves
beneath an autumn moon
or wandered through a field of dreams
on a sunny day in June.
Some never see beneath the snow
the promise of a rose
or often wonder like a child
just where the firefly goes.
Each day is filled with miracles
wherever we may trod
but many take for granted
the simple gifts of God.

A Message From the President
Terry Jorde, President & CEO
As I write this column there are only four business days left in this year. It seems like just yesterday that we were testing generators and preparing for Y2K! Time goes so fast, yet as I look back over the year I realize that much has been accomplished. CountryBank USA continues to grow in both Cando and Devils Lake. Did you know that we have opened almost 500 new deposit accounts just in Year 2000? Our loan, insurance, and investment departments have grown significantly too. But rather than counting car loans or checking accounts, we really prefer to count relationships… because it's the relationships with our customers that make it all worthwhile. Our success is only because of your support. If we can do something better, please let me know. If you like what we're doing, please tell a friend. Thanks for being such an important part of our CountryBank family.
"Country Caring Program"
Just a little note to tell you about the Country Caring Program at CountryBank USA. If you come in to the bank in Cando or Devils Lake on a Friday, you may think we are dressed a little casual! However, if we are dressed in casual clothing, we will be wearing a button or sticker that says "Denim Days". We pay to "dress down" and the money goes for charity.
Thank you to everyone-employees and customers, who donated to this program or picked a heart or angel from the Christmas tree so we could make someone's Christmas a little happier!
A WARM COUNTRY WELCOME TO OUR NEW MEMBERS!

DID YOU EVER WONDER??
..If Lipton employees take coffee breaks?
..Why doctors call what they do practice?
..If vegetarians can eat animal crackers?
..If the police arrest a mime, do they tell him he has the right to remain silent?
..How "Do not walk on the grass" signs get there?
..How a thermos knows if the drink should be hot or cold?
..If the "black box" flight recorder is never damaged during a plane crash, why isn't the
whole airplane made out of that stuff?
..Why there is an expiration date on sour cream?

Our "Best Wishes" to everyone celebrating a birthday or anniversary in January and February. Hope you have a grrrrrrrrrreat day! From all of us at CountryBank USA!
FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Laughter is the jam on the toast of life-it adds flavor, keeps it from becoming too dry and makes it easier to swallow.
JUST FOR FUN!!
It was the end of the day when I parked my police van in front of the station. As I gathered my equipment, my K-9 partner, Jake, was barking, and I saw a little boy staring in at me. "Is that a dog you got back there?" he asked. "It sure is," I replied. Puzzled, the boy looked at me and then towards the back of the van. Finally he said, "What'd he do?"
