TIS THE SEASON…

Is it time for those dreaded New year's resolutions again? I ran across some of Dear Abby's and thought I would share some of them with you.

  1. Just for today, I will live through this day only and not set far reaching goals to try to overcome all of my problems at once. I know I can do something for 24 hours that would overwhelm me if I thought I had to keep it up for a lifetime.
  2. Just for today, I will be happy. Abraham Lincoln said "Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be". He was right. I will not dwell on thoughts that depress me. I will chase them out of my mind and replace them with happy thoughts.
  3. Just for today, I will improve my mind. I will force myself to read something that requires effort, thought and concentration.
  4. Just for today, I will do something positive to improve my health. I will force myself to exercise, even if it's only walking around the block or using the stairs instead of the elevator.
  5. Just for today, I will take good care of my body so I can celebrate many more happy new years.
  6. Just for today, I will have a program. I may not follow it exactly, but I will have it, thereby saving myself from two pests: hurry and indecision. I like her philosophy! It seems like it is easier to reach our goals if we do things one day at a time!

    WISHING YOU A HAPPY & HEALTHY 2002!

    FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK
    Terry J. Jorde

I don't know why, but I always look forward to the New Year. Maybe it's because spring is only three months away and with spring comes new life and warmer weather. Having been married to a farmer for 22 years, you learn to be optimistic that the new year will bring bountiful crops and high prices. God bless the American farmer for their great optimism and their huge role in feeding the world!

As we enter the new year of 2002 we have much to be thankful for. I am personally thankful for the wonderful staff we have at CountryBank USA...people like Karen and Janice who put so much fun and joy in the task at hand.

I am thankful for terrific, loyal customers like you, who have supported our growth and contributed to our success this past year.

And I am thankful to live in the greatest country in the world, the United States of America. A country where we have the opportunity to practice our own religion, to agree or disagree with our government, and to make a difference in the world. May we never take our freedom for granted.

God Bless each and every one of you. I wish you a safe, healthy, and happy New Year!
    Best Wishes
to everyone celebrating a Birthday or Anniversary
    in January and February
and a warm WELCOME to all our new

    JUST FOR FUN...

    REFLECTIONS ON LIFE!

    1. I'm not into working out. My philosophy is no pain, no pain.
    2. I am in shape. Round is a shape.
    3. I'm desperately trying to figure out why Kamikaze pilots wore helmets.
    4. Ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face he gets mad at you, but when you take him in a car he sticks his head out the window!
    5. Ever notice that anyone going slower than you is an idiot, but anyone going faster than you is a maniac?
    6. You have to stay in shape. My mother started walking 5 miles a day when she was 60. She's 97 now and we have no idea where she is.
    7. I have 6 locks on my door, all in a row. When I go out, I lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking 3 of them.
    8. They show you how detergent takes out bloodstains. I think if you've got a tee shirt with bloodstains all over it, maybe your laundry isn't your biggest problem.
    9. When you send someone Styrofoam, what do you pack it in?
    10. How much deeper would the ocean be if sponges didn't live there?
A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though it was a very large mammal, its throat was very small.

The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. Irritated, the teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human; it was physically impossible. The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah". The teacher asked, "What if Jonah didn't go to heaven?" The little girl replied, "Then you ask him."

    NORTH DAKOTA TOUR

At our Dakota Neighbor Network meetings, we have been discussing plans for a North Dakota tour this summer. There are many historical and beautiful places to visit right here in good old North Dakota. We plan to include part of the Lewis & Clark Trail and perhaps travel a little into parts of Montana. As soon as we have the plans for this trip finalized we will publish them in our newsletter.

    Traveling With The CountryNeighbors Club!

Have you put off traveling with a group for one reason or another? Maybe it's time you had a little fun and relaxation! I know it is hard sometimes to take that first step and do something different, but traveling with a bank group is really great! While others are walking for blocks to get to a theatre, you are dropped off right at the front door-and picked up at the front door too! You always receive the VIP treatment! When traveling with a bank group trips are offered at a reduced rate. And, who doesn't want to save a little money? You also get to visit unique out-of-the way places, that most people aren't aware of.

Besides the above benefits, you meet wonderful people and make new friends. If there is a particular place you would like to travel to just let us know. That's what YOUR club is all about. Hop on the bus and leave the planning to us!
